Employers are required to mail your W-2 or 1099 by January 31.
When are taxes due?
Your income taxes are due April 15. You may file for an extension using Form 4864. This will give you an automatic extension until October 15, 2008 to file your return. To avoid a penalty, be sure to pay all taxes due by April 15.

What is the Self-Select PIN?
The self-select PIN is a paperless process that allows you to sign your return electronically. This five-digit PIN which you create, works as a signature and makes the process truly paperless.
Is efiling the same as Internet filing?
Yes. The free efile services are provided over the internet. Taxpayers enter the required data and all calculations are performed automatically. Your tax return is then sent electronically to the IRS. You will receive email confirmation when your return has been received by the IRS.

How quickly can I get my refund?
Using an efile program, you can greatly reduce the time it takes to get your tax refund. Depending on which free efile service you choose, you can get your return in as little as 3 - 15 days.
- What do I need to begin the efile process?
Before you begin your efile, it is important to have the following information available: - -Social security number for yourself, your spouse, and any dependents.
- -Form W-2 from all the employers you've had in the tax year. Employers are required to mail these by January 31. If you do not receive these by this date, contact the issuer.
-Form 1099 for any dividends, retirement or other income or any 1099 Forms with income tax withholding. Issuers are required to mail these by January 31.
-Receipts for expenses you intent to use as itemized deductions. You should also have any receipts or records for other income or expenses.
-To get your refund with direct deposit, you should have your bank account and routing numbers ready. These can be found on any of your checks. Call you bank if you have questions.
-If you previously filed using a Self-Select PIN as your signature, you should have this PIN available for quicker processing.
